Mediserve – Ireland’s leading healthcare company, intends to cut doctors’ out-of-hours response times by two thirds with the introduction of a new service – remote consultations.

The Mediserve Remote Consultation Service involves a high-tech portable device being despatched quickly along with a highly experienced paramedic to the homes of suitable patients. The service will enable a remote connection with a qualified Doctor in the Mediserve Medical Call Centre. The device will be used by the paramedic to measure vital signs (blood pressure, pulse etc), to record high resolution images of the area of complaint (throat, middle ear, skin and eyes) plus the ability to listen to heart and lung sounds. This is the same process that a doctor will go though in a face-to-face examination. The paramedic will then send all of the information via the AMD Portable TeleClinic to the doctor who will conduct a face-to-face real-time consultation with the patient to determine diagnosis and treatment. Finally, the patient’s updated medical record information can be securely transmitted electronically to the patient’s  GP after the visit providing full continuity of medical history.
